Phnom Penh Travel Guide

Old city of Cambodia, established in 1431 when Ancient Capital of Angkor was abandoned. According to a legend, Phnom Penh was erected at the confluence of Mekong and Tonle Sap River by Madam Don Penh who was a noble woman. She had found a flooded tree’s trunk which floated from Mekong River at her River bank. A hill was built up for installing the 4 Buddha statues which were found on the trunk. The temple which sheltered the statues on the top of the hill was called Wat Phnom Don Penh. Later on it was shortened and called Phnom Penh as Wat Phnom Don Penh was found to be too long. It is presently used as an official name for the capital of the kingdom of Cambodia....

Siem Reap is a very popular tourist destination in Cambodia.  As the gateway to the famous Ankgor temples in the region the city is the best place to stop for supplies and to soak up a bit in local culture before heading off into the lush countryside of Cambodia. .....

Siem Reap is a province of Cambodia and it is kocated in the North Western side of the country. Siem refers to Siam, and Reap means ‘defeat’, thus Siem Reap means ‘Siam Defeat’. The name is called after the Siam was defeated by Khmer army during the war in 16th century. Long time after the event the name Siam became Siem, so that today they call this province ‘Siem Reap’......

Battambang Cambodia Battambang is the largest rice grange of Cambodia; it is located to the west of Tonle Sap Lake and in the Northeastern side of Cambodia. It is the second city with the best preserve of French period constructions. The Markets, Museum, pagodas and houses of Battambang are ancient. This province was controlled by the Thai until 1907 after the French took back this province from Thailand. Many of pagodas were built during the Thai time......
Sihanouk Ville or Preah Sihanouk province Cambodia Sihanouk Ville known as “Kampong Som” province is located along the sea and South Western side of Cambodia. It takes about 4 hours by bus from Phnom Penh and it is 250 kilometers. Sihanouk Ville is gradually developed, and a few new towns are under construction. This only international seaport of Sihanouk Ville makes Cambodia develop faster, now it also serves as a port for import, export cargos and tourist cruise boats. ....
